Alfred Castillo Sr.

MR. ALFRED CASTILLO SR, age 76, was called to his Heavenly home by His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday December 10, 2023. Alfred was born and raised in Houston, TX on July 24, 1947. He was a graduate of Stephen F. Austin High School (c/o 1967) and a lifelong resident of East End. He was employed by Schumacher Metal Fabricators for many years but worked and retired from Eagle Taptek in 2009 after nearly 25 years of service. Alfred was a responsible man working at a young age to support himself and his family. He enjoyed boxing as a youth and loved the music we now call “the oldies.” He was able to recall the title and artist of any song played from Doo-Wop to the British invasion to Tejano music and more. He couldn’t wait for November 1st to come around as he loved to listen to Christmas music. He enjoyed watching boxing matches with his cousin Arthur Reyna and loved all of Houston’s Teams including the Oilers/Texans, Rockets and the Astros with Jose Altuve being his all-time favorite player. He and his cousin Butch Lopez were in constant contact to chat about game times, player stats and just about everything sports related. He appreciated a good movie. His top movies were Rocky, Star Wars, Shawshank Redemption, Contact, Twister but Green Book was his favorite. He was a good provider for his family and opened his home to other family members in need throughout the years. He also enjoyed the company of his many fur-babies throughout the years including his dogs Sparky, Tiger, Chewy and Daisy and his beloved cat, Droopy. He loved to pet-sit his son’s dog Moe. Alfred was known for his sense of humor, his jokes and his laugh. He enjoyed all types of cuisines and hot salsas. All he needed was an “Olla de Frijoles” and he was a happy camper! He is preceded in death by his wife of nearly 50 years Maria Rita Castillo; His parents Teofilo and Teresa Castillo; He leaves to cherish his memory his children: His son Alfred Jr. and his wife Diana, and his beloved daughter and caretaker Melissa Ann Maxwell; Grandchildren Josiah Castillo, Isis Maxwell, Jaden Castillo and Jeselle Castillo. His wonderful and caring siblings Cecilia Ramirez, Richard Castillo, Lola Castillo, and George Castillo. Numerous nieces and nephews with Annette Saldana and Christopher Ramirez whom he loved like his own. Alfred and Melissa would like to extend our deepest heartfelt thanks to his siblings Cecilia Ramirez and Richard Castillo and cousins Annette and Chris for tending to Alfred’s many needs. Special thanks to Dad’s Pharmacist Mr. Kelly and his home health nurse, Morgan Meyer with Elara Health. Big thanks to his dear friend and mechanic Miguel Lopez with Ramos Automotive Service and his neighbor of 13 years, Angel Hughes and family. Visitation will be held Tuesday December 19, 2023 beginning at 1:00 p.m. with a Celebration of Life Service to take place at 7:00 p.m. at Santana Funeral Directors located at 401 S Sgt Macario Garcia Dr. Houston, TX 77011. Gravesite Service and burial will follow on Wednesday December 20, 2023 at 10 a.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery located at 8601 Almeda Genoa Road, Houston, TX 77075
