Martin Montoya

Martin Montoya was born to Carlos and Esther Montoya on November 7, 1960 at John Sealy Hospital in Galveston, Texas. He spent part of his growing up years in Beaumont and northeast Houston. When Marty was 14, the family moved to Egypt, Texas where his love for the outdoors flourished. He enjoyed working with animals tremendously, and had many adventures hunting and fishing the pecan woods and river bottom land that surrounded the countryside around the home place. Marty always had a heart to help whether it was his brother and sister or his mom and dad. He took joy in caring for his family and looking after his new baby brother. Marty graduated from El Campo High School in 1978. After high school, he sought employment with Frank W. Marek Trucking. There he began his journey in the diesel mechanics field. His different occupation continued to take him down the truck and automotive line until his retirement. In his work and travels, friends were always easy to come by. Both a son and daughter were born to Marty and he treasured those relationships greatly. He kept in close contact with them and shared many of the same interests with his children. In the last five years of his life, he and his wife Juanita resided in Houston, Texas sharing the joys and sorrows of life together and enjoying the new-found relationship he found with Juanita‘s children. Through their many valleys, there was a faith that they held to, and The Lord was merciful many times. Marty enjoyed living life to the fullest and always being able to bring a smile to someone’s face with his vibrant sense of humor. He was very passionate about cooking and loved to share that passion with others. Though he wasn’t able to do all the things that he wished he could, through the coming of the age of technology, he was able to discover many fascinating things online and share them with his loved ones, especially his children and nieces and nephews. Martin Montoya died peacefully at his apartment home on November 11, 2017 at the age of 57, and though he would have preferred to have us remember him with a raucous laughter that would only rival his own, he leaves an enormous hole in our hearts. He leaves his wife of 5 years, Juanita Montoya; his son, Martin Montoya Jr. and Melissa of Rosenberg, Texas; his daughter, Dakota Montoya of El Campo, Texas; Juanita‘s children, Alejandro Moreno; Maria Moreno and Alex Ortiz; Juan and Cathy Coreas; Alfredo Ramirez; his parents, Carlos and Esther Montoya of Egypt, Texas; his sister, Lydia and Manuel Cantu III of Wharton, Texas; his brothers, John Montoya and Elvira of Port Lavaca, Texas; Adrian and Tara Montoya of El Campo; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Carlos and Agustina Montoya; and maternal grandparents, Rosario and Manuela Vargas.
