November 19th, 1971 was a chilly autumn day, but when Norma Jean Elias arrived, the seasons had changed, and it was like Autumn became Spring. Mario and Dommitila Elias welcomed their baby girl with loving arms. Growing up she was surrounded by Jesus Christ and people who loved her dearly. Her experiences through life, religious beliefs, and the people that surrounded her helped shape her into the woman we all know her as; generous, compassionate, friendly, and hilarious – no other can compare. A giving woman who will always be known as a mother and friend who put everyone else’s needs before her own; a dedicated woman you can always depend on to help solve any problems you had. Throughout her 49 years of life, she planted seeds of her selfless acts of kindness, nurturing spirit, and strong-willed persona that will continue to grow among us. Her welcoming persona captivated many people throughout her life. Her love and praise of God also impacted many lives along her journey that her life fragrance will continue to remain in the hearts of all who were captured by her presence. Norma Jean loved – the word love is an understatement – spending time with her family and friends. No matter where you were or who you were, you felt loved by Norma Jean. She will always be known to be the life of every party. Which she was always ready to celebrate, any occasion, indoors or outdoors, rain or shine. Even while traveling, just know a celebration was underway. Because her belief was “Why not?” Norma’s beautiful smile and timeless beauty, as well as her questionable remarks with no filter, will be deeply missed. She would always have a huge smile and personalized greeting just for you. It was always something to look forward to. As there can be no other Norma Jean, her legacy and our memories of her will endure, no matter what. Norma Jean Elias completed her journey through life on September 5th, 2021, at her home in Houston, TX, in the arms of her mother, father, daughter, and aunt. She was welcomed to her eternal life by her grandparents, Maximo and Victoria Luera; Tiburcio and Julia Elias; and beloved aunts, uncles, and friends. She is preceded in death by her son Angel Noel and continues to be adored by her three children: Margo, Noah, and Michael Ruiz. She is loved by her sister, Jennifer Elias, her spouse Aaron Leija, and their children; Dominick, Omari, and Ava Leija. She is also loved by her brother, Mario Elias Jr. (Juju), his spouse Veronica Elias, and their children; Mario and Siomi Elias. Norma will continue to be loved and cherished by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, co-workers, and friends. Go in peace, Norma Jean, and remember that, in a world of ordinary mortals, you are a Wonder Woman. Visitation and religious service will be held on Friday, September 17th from 3 – 7 pm.
