Maria Carmen Herrero

Maria Carmen Herrero, 74, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully at her home on August 7, 2024. Born on October 11, 1949, in Jilotlan de los Dolores, Jalisco, Mexico, Maria Carmen was the youngest of six children of Juan Ochoa and Trinidad Magana. In 1966, Maria Carmen married Hermilo of Tampico Tamaulipas, Mexico. They were blessed with six children: Rodolfo, Hermilo, Eduardo, Maria, Carmen, and Brenda. Throughout her life, Maria Carmen was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Maria Carmen had a passion for cooking. She was a fantastic cook, and nothing made her happier than feeding her loved ones. She also adored her garden. Her garden was a reflection of her spirit—full of life. It was her sanctuary, a place where she found peace. However, her greatest joy, above all, was her family. She was happiest when her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren surrounded her. The love she had for her family was boundless, and she cherished every moment spent together. Family dinners, filled with laughter and stories, were her favorite times, and she took pride in knowing that her home was a place where everyone felt welcomed. Maria Carmen was fearless in her commitment to providing for her family. For 30 years, she worked tirelessly, often sacrificing her own well-being to ensure her family’s needs were met. Her selflessness and generosity were truly admirable, leaving a lasting impact on everyone who knew her. Her passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Hermilo, her parents, her brothers Jose and Jesus, and her sister Rebeca. She is survived by her sons Rodolfo, Hermilo, Eduardo, son in law Joseph, and son in law Rodney; her daughters Maria, Carmen, Brenda, and daughter in law Michelle; her brother Pedro and sister Trinidad; her 12 grandchildren, Perla, Alexis, Nicholas, Cesalie, Joshua, Jessica, Hermilo III (Milito), Sarah, Stephanie, Savannah, Roland, and Maia; and her 17 great-grandchildren, Diego, Shiloh, Emma, Nicco, Lorenzo, Anthony, Romeo, Christian, Hermilo IV (Millie), Sophia, Christopher, Aliyah, Mia, Luke, Dylan, Rowan, and Violet. Her legacy is one of love, resilience, and a deep commitment to family. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit will continue to guide and inspire us. She will be missed dearly by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Thank you, Maria Carmen, for the endless support, love, and loyalty you had for us. You will live on in our hearts forever.
